Luggage storage in central districts

Stuttgart sits in southwestern Germany between the Black Forest and the Swabian Alp, and is the state capital of Baden-Württemberg. Neither the Stadtmitte neighbourhood nor the Bad Cannstatt district has an official luggage storage or cloakroom facility run by the city or transport authority.

Stadtmitte station itself is well connected on S-Bahn lines S1 through S6 and S60, while Schlossplatz is reached by the Stadtbahn underground and a nearby bus stop.

Bag rules at attractions and venues

At the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, bags and backpacks larger than DIN A4 (about 20 x 30 cm) must go in the cloakroom or lockers rather than exhibition areas. The Museum der Illusionen Stuttgart similarly requires backpacks, larger bags, umbrellas and rain gear to be deposited at its cloakroom.

At the Staatsgalerie, anything over A4 size is not permitted in exhibition rooms and must be left in the cloakroom for €1 or a locker. The Kunstgebäude am Schlossplatz bans bags bigger than the size shown in the ticketing area, with basement lockers provided instead. MHP Arena prohibits suitcases, trolleys, laptop bags and rucksacks larger than 297 x 210 x 150mm. Messe Stuttgart has no lockers for security reasons, but its East and West entrance cloakrooms take luggage instead.

At the Cannstatter Wasen, bags and backpacks larger than A4 are banned on the fairgrounds and must be left at the official storage facility, which charges €8 for large bags and €5 for small ones.

The MHP Arena is served by public transport including the U1 tram line to the Mercedesstraße stop, the S1 S-Bahn line to the NeckarPark (Mercedes-Benz) stop, and bus line 45 to the NeckarPark (Stadion) stop. Getting around Stuttgart with luggage

Passengers have no inherent right to transport items, and only hand luggage or other easily portable, non-bulky items are permitted. You must not obstruct passages, entrances or exits with bulky items. Messe Stuttgart is located approximately 13 kilometres from Stuttgart city centre, next to Stuttgart Airport, and is served by S-Bahn lines S2 and S3 to Flughafen/Messe in roughly 27 minutes plus an 8-minute walk. The U6 tram also stops at Messe West and Flughafen/Messe, the latter a 6-minute walk from the East Entrance.
