Luggage storage at Utrecht Centraal

If your train in or out of Utrecht leaves you with hours to fill, there is somewhere right inside the station to leave a bag while you do so.

Getting to and around Utrecht with bags

The direct train from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport reaches Utrecht Centraal in as little as 29 minutes, which makes the station a practical place to base yourself if you're passing through the Netherlands by air. On U-OV buses and trams, hand luggage is allowed only when the transport company judges there's sufficient room, and drivers can deny access or ask passengers to exit if a bag poses a danger, pollution hazard, or inconvenience to others. You're responsible for loading, unloading, and minding your own luggage on U-OV vehicles, so keep bags close rather than stowing them out of sight. Bus line 2 runs from Utrecht Centraal to the Domplein stop outside the Domtoren, a short ride that saves you from walking with luggage if you're heading there directly.

Bag rules at Utrecht's attractions

The Domtoren allows visitors to safely store their personal belongings in free lockers and notes that bags and handbags are not permitted when climbing the Domtoren. Its visitor terms also state that large backpacks, bags, or objects that don't fit in the lockers will not be taken into safekeeping by U&P, so pack light or leave bigger luggage at the station.

The Centraal Museum Utrecht has lockers for coats and bags but cannot store suitcases, so larger luggage needs to stay elsewhere before you visit. Separately, the Van Gogh Museum at Museumplein sets a size limit for cloakroom lockers and warns that baggage larger than 45×25×25 cm, including suitcases and large bags, may result in refusal of entry.
