This location is very small. Your luggage is just left in the narrow entry hallway of the hotel. The hotel clerk says he is there all the time during open hours and the outside door is locked all the time. But hotel guests could access your luggage if he were to step away to use the toilet, etc. I used a cable lock to connect all my bags together so they were not likely to go anywhere but it was not as secure as I would have liked.  It sounded like you could pick up your bags after he left if you wished but they would be left unattended.  Everything worked fine for me.

Super easy to use, a lot better than we initially thought since there weren’t many reviews. Walked in, showed the confirmation, left the bags, no worries. As expected it’s a secure room within the store, don’t expect private lock up, so make sure you’ve got a separate lock on your luggage. Would definitely use again.

Getting to and from Kings Cross with luggage

Kings Cross Station has its own train service into the city centre, with Martin Place and Edgecliff sitting either side of it on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line. The South Coast Line also stops there, mainly at peak times and on weekends, and buses 311, 324 and 325 connect from the station for getting around locally.

If you're heading to the airport, Museum Station nearby offers a direct link on the T8 Airport & South Line, so you don't need to haul bags back through the city centre.

Bag rules at local venues

Carousel Bar & Ballroom in Darlinghurst runs a cloakroom at its ticketing booth, so you can check items in on arrival and collect them before you leave, which helps if you're staying for a main club night from 10pm or an earlier comedy show from 7pm.

Kings Tavern at 54 Darlinghurst Road is directly across from the train station and opens daily from 10am to 4am, making it an easy first stop if you arrive early with luggage. The Kings Cross Hotel offers six floors of entertainment, dining, and a rooftop bar in one address. It sits a two-minute walk from Kings Cross Station.

Exploring the area after you store your bags

Fitzroy Gardens on Macleay Street holds the El Alamein Memorial Fountain and, on Sundays from 9am to 4pm, the Kings Cross Sunday Market with vintage finds, handmade goods and food vendors. Llankelly Place is a laneway nearby known for outdoor dining as part of the Kings Cross Quarter, and Darlinghurst Road itself has bronze pavement plaques that tell the area's social history as you walk through.
