The stash point is a hostel. The locker area was in a basement and reception was very pleasant and gave me a bit of paper with the (opaque) instructions on how to use the locker system. Two weeks later I returned and opened the locker - no bag! I asked at reception and the guy (who was very nice) first seemed to think the lockers were for day use only, then went to look in lost property. Finally, the manager tracked the bag to another locker where it had been moved. So all good in the end but not good for blood pressure!!

went smoothly, except that when booking the weight and size of the luggage didn't matter, but at delivery it did

Quick and simple. Bags were left upfront in the store, which was a bit discomforting, but everything worked out.

The flexibility of putting my luggage even if it's only for couple of hours in a safe place is good point. I had flexibility timetable and my journey was without stress.

The clerk was very very friendly. They put my stuff behind the counter which I didn’t mind because I have locks on my luggage, and I took my passport out. We were able to enjoy our last day without carrying heavy luggage around. We picked it up with no problems whatsoever and everything was there. Only thing is, the photo they offer of the place isn’t correct. The color of the sign is different now. The clerk thought it was a different place when I showed him until he saw the business name was the same. The photo I attached is the correct photo of the exterior of the building.

Lockers and bag rules at the Grimm Zentrum

Many visitors to the Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum arrive by tram and need somewhere to leave a bag before studying or exploring, since the library sits just north of central Berlin’s main sightseeing loop.

The nearest S-Bahn stations do have lockers: Berlin Friedrichstraße has nearly 170 of them, while Alexanderplatz offers lockers with a 24-hour limit. Once you move beyond the stations, the pattern flips — the Reichstag Building and the Alexa shopping centre both have no storage at all, so travelling light matters at the sights themselves. The Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum stays open until midnight on weekdays. Sushi Miyabi is about 100 metres away on Georgenstraße 195. With Stasher, you can store bags for €1.49 per bag per day at 9 locations near the Jacob Und Wilhelm Grimm Zentrum.

Getting there and nearby storage

The closest transport link is the Universitätsstraße stop, just 0.2 km away and served by trams 12, M1, M2, and M6, which makes the library straightforward to reach from much of central Berlin. For proper luggage lockers, Berlin Friedrichstraße station is the nearest major rail hub and has nearly 170 official lockers on the ground floor on the Spree side.

Alexanderplatz is another option if you're coming from or heading to that part of the city — the S-Bahn station there has lockers on the ground floor on the right side of the DB-Zentrum, though they carry a 24-hour usage limit. Alexanderplatz itself is a busy transport and shopping hub anchored by the Fernsehturm, the World Clock, and the Fountain of Friendship between Nations, so you'll likely pass through it at some point anyway.

Sights and their bag rules

The Reichstag Building bars large luggage for security reasons and offers no storage facilities at all. Likewise, the Alexa shopping centre has no cloakroom or luggage storage of its own. For a walking route through the city's history, Checkpoint Charlie — the famous Cold War border crossing between East and West — and the Brandenburg Gate sit close together and are both easier to enjoy without dragging a suitcase along.

Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with collections spanning several millennia, and the Berlin Fernsehturm, Europe's highest building open to the public with its 360-degree observation deck, round out the sights where travelling light makes the visit far more comfortable.
