Luggage storage at and around Yurakucho Station

Yurakucho sits on the JR East Yamanote and Keihin-Tōhoku lines plus the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line, which makes it a handy gateway for both business travellers and people heading to Ginza or the Tokyo International Forum. The station itself has an automated luggage storage system near Exit D5, which offers reservation and hotel delivery services.

If you want official temporary luggage storage, Tokyo Station provides it at locations including the Yaesu South Gate, the JR East Travel Service Center at the Marunouchi North Gate, and within the B1 Gransta Tokyo area. Yurakucho Station is jointly run by JR East and Tokyo Metro. With Stasher, you can store bags from US$1.49 per bag a day.

Getting around with luggage

The Yamanote Line at Yurakucho runs clockwise toward Shinagawa and Shibuya, or counterclockwise toward Tokyo and Ueno. Transfers to other JR East lines and Toei Subway lines are available here too, which helps if you're crossing the city with a suitcase. Step-free access runs from ground level to the gate and platform via elevators, with a wheelchair-accessible route between the JR gate and Exit 7 — useful when you're wheeling a heavy bag rather than carrying it.

Nearby districts and venues

The Tokyo International Forum is right on the west side of the station, hosting conventions, exhibitions and concerts, and it's one place where you'll want your hands free before you go in.

Ginza is the next neighbourhood over; its main street, Chuo Dori, becomes a pedestrian-only stretch on weekends and holidays from noon to 6:00 p.m. between April and September, or 5:00 p.m. from October to March, which is lovely for strolling but less so with a suitcase in tow. The most direct way into Ginza is actually via Ginza Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza, Marunouchi and Hibiya lines, so plan the last leg of your journey accordingly.

Nihonbashi is served by Nihombashi Station, which provides access to the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Tozai lines, as well as the Toei Subway Asakusa Line. There is no official luggage storage or cloakroom facility provided by local authorities in Nihonbashi.
