Nice staff. Great location. Would have preferred a secure storage location. All luggage is left in the gift shop along a wall. Nothing missing, but felt a little worrisome. Lots of staff walking around the store however.

The desk clerk, Jefferson, was friendly and helpful. Although we weren’t hotel guests, didn’t feel any judgement against us for storing our luggage, using the restroom, and having our lunch in the foyer before going out to explore the city.

It was functional. The place said they took other apps, as well. Next time I'll compare prices between the different apps, in case the competitors are cheaper.

Getting to the Empire State Building with luggage
The closest subway stop is 34th Street–Herald Square, about a five-minute walk from the entrance, served by the B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, and W lines. If you are coming via the 4, 5, 6, or 7 lines, you will arrive at Grand Central Terminal instead, roughly ten minutes away on foot.
Grand Central Terminal has no luggage storage services of its own, so do not plan to leave a bag there on the way over.
Nearby sights and their own bag rules
Times Square prohibits suitcases, trunks, wheeled duffel bags, carry-on bags, coolers, and packages, and it does not offer a coat check, so plan to store such items elsewhere before you go.
Madison Square Garden sits directly above Penn Station near 34th Street and is reachable by the 1, 2, 3, A, C, and E lines at the 34th Street/Penn Station stop, a common add-on for visitors already in the area because of its proximity.
There is no general luggage storage facility for the Broadway neighbourhood, and individual theatres do not allow large bags inside, often requiring guests to make other arrangements before arrival. Madison Square Garden is the home arena for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers.
Planning your visit without a bag
The Empire State Building is open every day of the year, though hours shift with the season, so check ahead before committing to a time. Every visitor needs a timed reservation for entry, which helps keep lines manageable but means you cannot simply wander up whenever it suits. A visit to the 86th Floor Observation Deck takes at least an hour, while adding the 102nd floor stretches the outing to around 1.5 to 2 hours, so a stored bag is worth arranging rather than carrying anything bulky through security. The M34 and M34A Select Bus Service buses run along 34th Street and stop steps from the visitor entrance, a useful option if the subway feels complicated with luggage in tow.
