Museum of Modern Art bag policy and coat check
MoMA does not permit luggage of any size, and items larger than 11 x 17 x 5 inches are restricted. Luggage storage outside the Museum is therefore the practical option for suitcases and other larger bags, rather than taking them to the entrance. All bags are inspected on arrival, and the Museum may prohibit an item or require it to be checked.
A free coat checkroom is available for coats and belongings, including bags or items that the Museum requires visitors to check. Capacity is limited: the checkroom may refuse further drop-offs before closing because of capacity issues or operational changes. Items accepted there must be reclaimed before the Museum closes, so it cannot hold them beyond that day.
Large umbrellas are prohibited inside. They may be left in the provided umbrella rack.
Current exhibitions at Museum of Modern Art
Frida and Diego: The Last Dream is on view at the Museum of Modern Art from March 21 through September 12, 2026. Peggy Weil: Core Memory runs from March 7 through October 4, 2026. Their schedules overlap, making it possible to see both exhibitions during one visit within their shared viewing period. Peggy Weil’s exhibition remains on view beyond the end of Frida and Diego, giving it the longer overall run.
