We stashed our luggage with Fairway Hotel for a getaway and it was convenient for us to drop it off and pick it up since it is a short walk from the Pancras Station. I would definitely recommend this spot. The staff were friendly and everything went perfect for us.

Very conveniently located drop-off point. I'm in London quite often and use Kipps Food and Wine regularly. The staff are extremely friendly I can only recommend them. On top of that, I can get from Covent Garden straight to Heathrow Airport on the Piccadilly Line.

Luggage storage along Oxford Street

Oxford Street runs for about a mile and a half through the heart of London's West End, with four Underground stations spread along its route. Walking from one end to the other takes roughly 30 minutes without stopping, which matters when you're carrying a bag and trying to reach a specific shop.

The street itself is scheduled to become traffic-free between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street from Monday, 26 October 2026, which should make navigating with luggage easier along that stretch.

For actual left luggage, Charing Cross Station has a desk in its Cab Passage entrance/exit run by a third-party operator, so it works as a drop-off point if you're arriving that way. With Stasher, you can store bags from £1.49 per bag a day at 20+ locations across Oxford Street.

Some top Stasher locations in Oxford Street include:

Exploring museums and galleries with bags

The British Museum has a cloakroom near its main entrance on Great Russell Street, open daily from 10.00 to 17.00 and until 20.30 on Fridays. Wheeled suitcases and large bags exceeding 40cm x 40cm x 50cm or heavier than 8kg are not allowed inside the British Museum at all. So if you're wheeling a suitcase, you'll need to store it before reaching the British Museum's entrance rather than at the museum's own cloakroom.

The National Gallery offers a cloakroom on Level -1 of the Sainsbury Wing, charging £3 per item for bags up to 56cm x 25cm x 45cm. Wheeled luggage, including cabin bags and suitcases, is not permitted inside the gallery, which makes the cloakroom useful only for smaller bags.

Theatres and public squares: bag rules

The Criterion Theatre sits on the south-east side of Piccadilly Circus and has no cloakroom capable of accommodating large bags or suitcases. The Leicester Square Theatre doesn't operate a cloakroom for visitors either, though small bags are allowed in and may be checked by security on the way in.

That leaves anyone going to a show in either venue with nowhere obvious to leave a larger bag, so sorting it out before you arrive is the practical move.

Getting around with luggage

Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road stations both have step-free access, and the section of Oxford Street between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road has very easy slopes and wide pathways suited to wheelchair users. Transport for London keeps accessible routes open during ongoing works in the Oxford Street area, though some footways may be temporarily narrowed or diverted. Passenger Assist can help with luggage at Elizabeth line and London Overground stations, plus 30 specific London Underground stations, provided one person can lift the items safely.

The British Museum is reachable from Holborn, Russell Square, and Tottenham Court Road stations, which are a 7-minute, 7-minute, and 5-minute walk away respectively. Covent Garden station on the Piccadilly line is a short walk from the Market Building, while Charing Cross sits about 200 metres from the National Gallery. Piccadilly Circus is served by the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines, and Leicester Square station by the Northern and Piccadilly lines.
