Arriving by Tube: stations and step-free access

Soho is served by Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus Underground stations. Oxford Circus sits on the Victoria, Bakerloo and Central lines, while Tottenham Court Road has the Northern, Central and Elizabeth lines. Nearby sights, theatres and their bag rules

The British Museum won't let wheeled suitcases or large bags over 40cm x 40cm x 50cm or 8kg through its doors, but its cloakroom near the Great Russell Street main entrance opens daily from 10.00 to 17.00, and until 20.30 on Fridays. It is served by the Holborn, Russell Square, and Tottenham Court Road Underground stations, which are a 7-minute, 7-minute, and 5-minute walk away, respectively.

The National Gallery bans wheeled luggage including cabin bags and suitcases, but its Level -1 Sainsbury Wing cloakroom stores bags up to 56cm x 25cm x 45cm for £3 per item. Shaftesbury Avenue cuts through Soho as the heart of Theatreland's late Victorian theatres, and Kingly Court is a three-storey food hub around an open-air courtyard. Chinatown's restaurants typically start lunch at noon daily.

Covent Garden, including the Piazza and Market Building, is free to walk around day or night, known for its historic piazza, shopping, dining and performances. Covent Garden Underground station on the Piccadilly line is a short walk from the Market Building.

Soho itself is free to wander at any time, with peak shopping hours between 10am and 7pm, and the Soho Literary Festival runs across various venues from 7 to 14 November 2026.
